Beer Bread


3 cups S/R flour

1 .1/2 level tspns salt

3 level tspns sugar

370 mlis (1 can of Beer )

Sift all dry ingredients together into a bowl , make a wellin centre and por beer into well.

Using a knife mix to a soft dough

Pour into a well greased loaf tin.

Bake for 40/50 mins in a 200c oven.  (You can get drunk while you eat it ...)

Remove from tin immediatelyfrom tin

Allow to cool , slice and spread with marg or butter and serve.

Very yummy !!!

I'm all for baking fresh bread while camping. The smell alone is worth it! Looks like a great recipe, Herbie. I have one of those long-handled jaffle irons too that's as old as the hills. Jaffles rock.

 It is very hand as you do not need yeast as the yeast is in the beer.

H i herbie, I use this recipe all the time I put in some cheese  and sprinkle sesame seeds,  a friend also suggested a mashed banana not sure how that would go with the beer and also I have tried lager beerbiggrin.gif

Its already a bit sweet with the sugar, we had some at a tourist place that also had added sultanas. They called it beer damper... YUM!

This is how I always make my bush bread (dampers) too , Herbie. It's always a tough decision though - to cook with or drink the beer.
