Very interesting GD. Could be a life saver to someone one day. I will wait for while and then keep an eye out for them. They could get improved on and the price might come down.

When I hit the road in the next few months, i definitely do not want to be found, unless any one wants to have a chat over a cuppa, scotch, beer, coffee, port or the fact that I have won tattslotto or inherited a large sum of money!

I don't want to knock the Spot find me app but would strongly suggest a close look at charges if you anticipate using it as a non emergency means of communicating. As a dedicated emergency locater I say go for it. My personal preference is a "Safety Alert" SA1 which is an EPIRB and a Personal Locater Beacon. These can be purchased for less than $300 and have a ten year battery life. Once purchased you just register your details with AMSA and you can guarantee that if you activate your beacon you WILL BE FOUND.
Yes Jim I agree... we have an EPIRB. However, for non-life-threatening events its better not to get out the search parties. In fact I think its an offence to use them frivolously. If your vehicle breaks down and you have plenty of food/water to wait a while, then it would be better to arrange for help independantly. A sat-phone is an ideal solution, its just that they are so expensive.
