Hi all......I'm new to the site so please bear with me a moment. My partner and I have a 2008 Jayco Sterling poptop. Unfortunately it has to be parked in the driveway without cover, and taking the brunt of the West Australian sun. We have had it covered during winter, but for the last few months the cover has been off. My point is that the front dulls very badly and even a light polish doesn't really bring it up.....more often than not I have to use a cutting compound to remove the dead finish. Of course I only use a fiberglass wash and polish that I got from BCF. My question to you all is......do any of you have any better ideas on maintaining it's shine..??

Hi Lady Silver and a very warm welcome to the Forum, we have a fibreglass van and have had the same experience I have tried a number of so called fibreglass safe polishes as well with similar results to you I have just recently purchased a polish that was recommended by a detailer called Collinites Insulator Wax number 845 which is manufactured by Collinite Corporation in the USA and available through carcareproducts.com.au for $32.95, I have not yet used it on the van but it has put an unbelievable shine on the Pajero.I will be doing the van in near future but prior to polishing will use a light cutting fluid to get rid of road grime etc
The detailer also suggested using Maguires quick detailer every so often to help protest the surface after using Collinites You only need to apply sparingly and it is easy on and easy off.
I will be interested to see other comments from members who are a very helpful bunch

I bought a Jayco new 2 years ago, they supplied a bottle of cleaner ( Marine cleaner & wax ) and a bottle of Scotchgard Protecting ( Marine Liquid Wax )
I use them about twice a year so far the van still looks as good as new. they are both easy to use and are made by 3 M. I would think any Jayco dealer would

I have been told that if you apply normal car cutting polish or ordinary car polish to a fibreglass caravan it will yellow in the sun and it cannot be rectified you have to use a fibreglass specific polish and there are a number of different brands available.

Yes I agree with you David, regarding using a normal car polish on fibreglass. I have been in contact with Pierre at Carcareproducts re the Collinite, he also suggested using Duragloss 105. It's apparently easy on easy off, plus giving a "wet look" finish. The bonus here is that it can be applied in the sun. The price of the Duragloss is $29.95.
Got a couple of issues with our caravan that needs fixing on warranty. Going to ask them, Jayco, best house keeping products. Sterling 16.52.1 pop top which will include the vinyl pop top. Concerns me, as I will need to get up on a ladder.
Will post what they tell me, but it will be in two or so weeks!
