I thought I would share this with you. When in Darwin we got sand flys bites My husband Dave went to the chemist and she recommends this cream , we have in the past tried all sorts of creams like we all have.Well this cream was amazing with in just a few mins itching was gone Its Called Eurax its in a pink tube.We run out last year and every chemist we tried no one had any until now its back on the market it fixes every sort of itch
We lived and worked on Fraser Island for four years, and you haven't experienced sand fly bites, like the ones there.
We did take a course of vitamin B, however takes years to make you ammuned to them. We found that any type of moisteriser, sun burn cream, or anything that can put a protective film over the skin, usually suffices.
Simple solution was to cover all the exposed parts of the skin with the above, and bingo, no bites. Most ladies will be affected more than the males of our society due to the smooth nature of legs and arms. In saying that also, they (sandflys) loved me around the neck. A liitle bit like a vampire (he he!!!)
Hope that helps
Cheers and beers

For consideration: Pennyroyal works very well too; for mozzies, midgies, biting flies...even fleas!
So...if you are intersted in making your own (as I dont know anywhere that actually premakes it for you)......
Its a simple to grow herb, like mint (if you have the chance to grow some, of course) or pennyroyal essential oil can be found in most healthfood-type shops.
Its easy to dilute with water for your own spray (+ euc oil) and there's plenty of recipes on the web.
I like it because it smells ok, its application doesn't 'sting' and it is basically organic and non toxic (although I note that general health warnings suggest pregnant women do NOT use pennyroyal at all....) .
Also, for me, it is home made (ie cheap)
