I tried a similar thing in the Avan but didn't work so I have the thinking cap on for some other arrangement. Not sure what yet.

I did mine the same as way your Avan Vic but the velcro keeps coming of the Avan aluminium on the inside. I am now thinking of putting 2 removable bolts with wing nuts on the inside and rubber washers on the outside that way it won't come down and I can remove easily when need too. That side panel is under cover when folded down so no problem there. With the cost of these Avans it would be good for the manufacturers to come up with something.

 My van side Velcro ran across on the white panel Doug not the aluminium door surround but above it.  I think I also had it tucked under the roof handle too on one side, I can't remember now.   Good luck with yours, hope the bolts work ok!

 

Doug we saw a homemade fly screen on a van in Townsville so went straight next door to S----light and bought the makings. We bought a plastic covered metal curtain rod as long as the door was wide and stuck then screwed two of those slip in curtain rod holders (they come in packs of 2 and you have to push the rod into them from one side) Then I handstitched a rod pocket at top and stitched some fishing leadweights into the bottom of a piece of mossie netting (black so it doesn't show the dirt). We've used it for years. When we don't need it it is just rolled up and stored in a cupboard, when the flies or mossies get too much it comes out and is popped into the rod holders. Only problem we have had with it was when we were also burning a mossie stick and the wind blew the curtain on the flame - now has a small hole in it. I'm sure your sewing skills would be up to it and since the rod doesn't have to stay there, all your AVan bits could still fold up couldn't they?

I bought one and when hubby but it up on our laundry door it never shut right so we took it down

We found full length magnets work best as the ones with half a dozen individual magnets get blown open and are more stubborn closing in a wind  (the ones we have now have full length magnets plus individual ones so it closes great).

We found white gets dirty too easy from hands, cat pushing his way through and general dust etc. Not too easy to clean the stuff. We found black is the best and least noticable.
