Put too much faith in technology and you may wind up in Croatia. A 67-year-old woman from Belgium learned that the hard way after she followed (faulty) directions from her GPS device.

The woman only wanted to go about 90 miles from her hometown of Hainault Erquelinnes, Belgium, to pick up a friend at the Brussels train station. Her GPS device sent her about 900 miles to the south before (during the second day of driving) she realized that something was amiss. It's unclear if she entered the address incorrectly or if the GPS was faulty.

Discovery explains that the driver, Sabine Moreau, stopped twice for gas, slept on the side of the road, and "even suffered a minor car accident" along the way. She told El Mundo that she wasn't paying attention.

I was distracted, so I kept driving. I saw all kinds of traffic signs, first in French, then German and finally in Croatian, but I kept driving because I was distracted. Suddenly I appeared in Zagreb and I realized I wasn't in Belgium anymore.

The lesson here: If you start seeing road signs in (multiple) foreign languages, pull over. You're probably going the wrong way.

 They certainly do I mean a 90 mile drive is a lot shorter than 900 miles, surely the penny should have dropped before she got so far off track.

You lot have should been in the car rally with me and the missuss.  The little woman directing and talking about questions etc.  The car rally was from Sunshine to the Anakie Fairy park.  We actually got every question right but got into strife for doing an extra 90ks.  So I have a SatNav and use it, I always make sure I have looked at the map first though.  This missuss doesn't get the map reading thing either, to the point of have me drive 30 odd ks the wrong direction down a freeway.  When asked about which way she was holding the map she said the right way.

Would I give her up, not on your nellie cause its always good for a laugh!

The story has been all over the news - so how did they find out - did she tell a reporter. Must be really 'thick' either way :)

When I retired three years ago, my colleagues kindly gave me a GPS. It's still in the box. This woman's experience confirms that it will stay there.

Nah Tony, she had something else that added to her problem.. A total lack of common sense. Get it out and try it, you'll be surprised at how handy they can be sometimes.
