You could try either of these Herbal Teas. Both are said to be very helpful for Gout, among other things. Stinging Nettle, and Horsetail. Have 1 cup a day.
Another old-time remedy, is Cherrys. Have 1 cupful every day.
Externally, Comfrey Ointment might help. Not sure how strong the Commercial one is, but I know mine works. I make my own, so it's stronger. You could always get some Comfrey leaf, and make your own. It's really very simple to make.
Cheers,
Sheba.

Diagnosed with gout in the right knee a couple of months ago. Doing all the right things, eating the right food, avoiding the wrong foods, drinking plenty of water etc. Have been real good with no attacks until today. No idea what has brought it on and am in agony. Up to my second Colgout tablet which usually does the trick without the side affects the next day, but they aren't working. So the third dose will happen about 11:30 tonight. The question I have is has anybody got a friendlier way of coping with gout than the Colgout tablets and the inherent side effects of staying close to the dunny the next day?
I reckon I am going to have sleepless night and there is sod all on the idiot box. Humphrey and Katherine might get a dusting off, African Queen for the four hundred and twenty second time!

A daily juicing regime may be extremely beneficial. Carrot and celery juice. But to add some colour and flavour add a little beetroot apple and ginger.
Take daily and drink plenty of filtered water.

Ouch!! Are you sure its gout, since the pills havent helped, and your diet hasnt been naughty? It would be awful to have the runs after those dreaded pills and it turned out to be something else causing the pain. Carrot and celery juice sounds good. Good luck Boothie!
Haven't had an attack since I was told about canned or bottled cherries with breakfast by an old bloke(that is starting to sound funny to me) whose mother suffered from gout and had cherries from a can or bottle with breakfast!
Have even eaten all those foods that are reported to cause gout, also enjoyed some port and blue vein cheese to excess the other night. Slept like a baby and woke up fine the next morning. (Hernia surgery still giving me a little grip but started the cherries before that)
Seriously, since using cherries, I have not had to take any anti-inflammatories, or any other pills pertaining to arthritis. I would also like to announce that my blood pressure is fine and off any blood pressure medication because I don't smoke any more!
Probably has a lot to do with the lack of need of other meddications as well, but I have to admit, the cherries work!

That is true I had my mum on it years ago ( she was in her 70's and never had a drink in her life ) and have told lots of others about it and all had had none or much less attacks.

Apparently tart cherries have a anti-inflammatory action Boothie... and a lot safer than taking anti-inflammatory drugs! The information I found was for tart.. ie sour red cherries, not the sweet purple ones. But if the dark ones work for you, go for it!
Edit: Just found another web-site which said dark cherries are as good as the red ones, and the ani-inflammatory effect helps arthritis sufferers too.
