What do Grey Nomads recommend for the best TV antennas for coverage? We have a bus, and are tossing up between some of the commercial RV antennas or a digital regional (house) antenna on a pole. We have had a few people tell us that they were disappointed with the commercial RV antennas. Just after other opinions/experiences.
Cheers

Hi Rosie not a big TV viewer but our antenna is a winegard with the extra pointer on the end. It works OK but needs some fiddling to get it right. Big problem is if signal is vertical or horizontal so you sometime only get some stations or noe at all, depends on the transmitter. I have seen some others with just plain household antenna on a pole and it is looks so easy to adjust or change from vertical to horizontal. So if I was to put one one up I would save my money and go the house style on a pole. Hope this helps....

I recently had a "JACK" antenna fitted to replace the Winegard .. there are a few combinations out there, but this is the one I had installed and I'm very happy with it ..
Rosie, The new wingard caters for both vertical and horizontal signals, we use it and when out of range of a signal our Sat system. We prefer the wingard type aerial to get local programs when in the area, rather than a 1/2 Auatralia type of Sat TV.
To me if you have space on your roof for sola panels, TV antenna and a sat dish have the lot,. and SKI. ( a/c have a split system)
Vast reciever and a dish work for me . i've had my system for just over 12 months now . IF you can read a compass and have a bit of nouce, no problems. works out about the same cost in the end, only hard part is finding the satilight in the first place. A good meter ( cost about $120.00 ) helps. I get all of the commercial channels and the many feeds of the ABC and SBS as well as IMPARJER.
Also the best part is there are not a lot of adds on the channels ( these are inserted at the local tv channel ). When there is a add break normaly you just get a prerecorded tape ? of some of the many town around the local area.
