Newbie Hello!

David & Beryl from Kingsthorpe West of Toowoomba saying hello!

Just joined today.

Have Toyota 1999 Hiace campervan,  had been shedded for 5 years before we bought it.

Both retired in March 2012 but Beryl is working through a Nursing agency in aged care,  this gave us a six month placement in Griffith NSW last year and our current placement in Yamba for 3 months to mid February.

We love finding overnight camps in CAMPS 5 book and meeting people at 'Happy Hour'!

My hobby is camp oven cooking and we carry the following items in the van:

Lodge (USA) camp ovens 10", 8", 6"; Heat Beads Starter Chimney;  Mair (USA) camp oven lid lifter; 1 Volcano Stove Collapsible (USA); Souther Metal Spinners Windshield; 1 tripod made by a Blacksmith; 2  Diablo Jaffle Irons; 1 Rome (USA) Double Pie Iron;  12" Lodge skillet;  1 Aussie Bush Kettle; Weber Baby Q.  Sometimes we take our Ozpig with us if going on a short camping trip.

Member International Dutch Oven Society (IDOS) (USA); Australian IDOS Newsletter distributor and contact.

Having been meaning to join The Grey Nomads for 12 months!

Bought a T-shirt in Yamba yesterday worded: THE GREY NOMADS - LIVING THE DREAM - YAMBA NSW CHAPTER.  Luv it!

Hope to contribute to this Forum,  mainly in the cooking section.

Regards -  David aka KD

Yep.  Very early on, I googled the Grey Nomads, and there was a mob located in Tasmania with the same name.

Cheers,

Sheba.

Welcome David and Beryl, enjoy here and out in the playground.

I had the privilege of enjoying my first ever "casserole" cooked in a camp oven about 6 weeks ago and have 2 more since. A great way to cook. I must say, the 3 were cooked to perfection by a Kiwi expert.

With all the cooking gear you mentioned you must really love cooking that way, good on ya, enjoy.

That T shirt doesn't look like this Grey Nomad site. Is it meant to be? I didn't think we had 'chapters'.

Maybe that's something to do with the Tasmanian mob.

The shirt was bought at a surf/fishing shop in Yamba for $15 100% cotton made in Bangladesh..
They had a range of joke T-shirts incorporating the town name, but this one attracted me.
Might be an idea for the Grey Nomads management to consider along with bumper stickers?

Welcome to the forum, David. Yes, we are planning to introduce some 'Grey Nomad' T-Shirts in the near future ... so watch this space. We already have bumper stickers and stubby holders available. Check out our shop at http://thegreynomads.com.au/shop/ for details. Our recently revamped website and new-look logo have been very well received and we will keep looking at what merchandise people might be interested in.

Hear hear - good idea. They might be more identifiable than even the stickers when we are walking around in a town or CP.
