With the Gympie one and the Greens Lakes, we never know until we get there. We can have a rough idea before hand, but some don't turn up and others turn up who haven't said they are coming.

Enjoyed my stay at Greens and would like to be there but registering the coaster may take time if there is considerable expense and I can't look at it for three weeks until I get back from Tassie.

All in all it will be a bit soon for me but I hope everyone has a good time.

Thats where its being held Pam, and I think its the 3rd week in April .. something like this is usually carried out over a few days so that more members are able to attend, though not all at the same time of course .. It seems to work out ok !

Was told the other day there is a solos get together at the Biggenden Showground (CMCA)on that same week.

As things stand at the moment, I've been given an appointment for the 19/4 in Brisbane, so I won't get away until the 20th.

I'm also wondering now about the viability of camping at Boynedale, considering the floods. Do we need to look at other options? Or should we decide in early April?

Anyone with an opinion?

Maybe we should have a 2nd option ready Beth, just in case Boynedale is still flooded but it is over 6 weeks away. I would think it should be dried out by them. Heres Hoping.
Early April will be no good for me. Will still be over in NZ. Will probably get back up here around 7th. Then repack the van.

Well we don't know how much longer this rain is going to hang about. It might be finished, who knows!

I was looking at Wuruma Dam. I don't have my bible here, so don't know the number, but it's between Eidsvold and Monto. Looks like the camp sites are higher up from the water level than at Boynedale. Google images for Wuruma Dam.

I'm pretty sure it was a free camp, because that's was a priority for me. I'll just have to do a search for it again. Can't remember how I found it.

Oz Camps says it's free, and you need to be self sufficient, as it is at Boyendale.

Even though it's still 5 weeks or so away, and anything can happen, I think we need to look for an alternative to Boynedale.

Because even if it doesn't rain again before then, it is at the back end of Awonga Dam/Lake Awonga, so the water's not going to down down in a hurry like a river would.

So anyone else have any suggestions?

You beat me to it Ole Grizzly..I was going to say there's apparently good fishing there. biggrin

I think I read somewhere that there's a dump point in Eidsvold. Maybe someone could check that in the 'bible' as mine is still with my son. (Reminder to self..get it back!)

I actually have a good opinion of the Eidsvold folk, because I had nice young fella fixed my flat tyre! I discovered it after coming out of the newly opened RM Williams Centre...called RACQ, and he came from just down the road, put air in the tyre, then directed me back to his workshop where he repaired the puncture. Quick as a flash and cheap as chips!

Correction...it's actually called RM Williams Australian Bush Learning Centre. quite a mouthful!

I checked out Waruma Dam. It 191 ks from Biggenden about 2 1/2 hours. Through Ban Ban Springs, Gayndah, Mundubberah, etc etc.

Can't see if there are costs involved. I would have thought so as the description is very similiar to Paradise Dam just up the road from me.

Waruma seems to have good facilities and the camping is in a designated area.

Its definitely worth keeping in mind.

Note this on Lets Getaway site...

Sites: The GPS above is for the public toilets located at the top of the hill roughly in the middle of the camping areas. The two camping areas are located beside the shore of the dam on a grassed surface. Some trees provide shade but these need to be avoided to get Sat TV or solar. The ground slopes quite steeply down towards the water although some of the sites are on slightly uneven terracing. Levelling blocks will be required for most sites. The area is big enough for large rigs but they may find some areas tight to turn around.

I'm beginning to have my doubts about Waruna Beth. Your last post about levelling and too tight to turn around has turned me off a bit. Slopes steeply doesn't appeal either. There has to be some nice flat spacious ground with a nice view somewhere.

I have now looked in my books for details of Waruma Dam.
Firstly the Camps 7. No charges.
Turn West 19 ks north of Eidsvold. Then via Abercorn. Then 1 k dirt road.
Suitable caravans, campervans, big rigs, tents. dogs allowed. Toilets.

Then I checked my Budget Camps Australia which has a photo. Looks to be a very large flat area with built shade areas over tables.

Actually looks good to me.

Porta Loos are recommended and must bring in own water as Dam water is not suitable apparently after reading www.lets-getaway.com/Review-Qld-Wuruma_Dam.htm

And they do ask that potty cassettes are not emptied into their septic system..

From the photos and google satelite, it seems to me that there's enough flatish ground for us. Apparently there are two spots to choose from. Do you have levelling blocks Marj?

Nobody else has given us any suggestions so it looks like it's up to you and me to decide.

I wish I knew the area girls to assist in decision making, but having never been there and my being a zillion kms away I am of no use to help.

After googling images of Wuruma Dam I reckon a shovel is a must for some sites to get the ole abode on an even keel.
