RE: Qld Autumn meet

Thanks Beth, even though the video is a bit rough, it does give a better idea of the size of Boynedale and just how it is set out.
Yep, that will do me nicely.

I found this video of the Boynedale Bush Camp on youtube. The quality is shocking, but at least it shows a bit of the camping area.

That video looks like it was done by a two year old on the run. LOL

Hello,

hope you can be of some help. We went there in Nov. went through Calliope and turned left. don't remember name of road. it was sealed and we drove and drove until we came to a sign that said "blasting". I guess we took the wrong road. Do you know the names of the roads to take when you turn left at Calliope?

Would love to know because all we did was have a pleasant drive. The camp at the calliope river was beautiful though. thanks.

I'm thinking of doing a bit of a round trip, Toowoomba, Miles, then along the Leichhardt Hwy to Biloela, and in that way.  My last maternal Aunty lives in Taroom so I'd like to visit her.

I'll see how my savings are going as it gets closer.

Thanks for that John, I remember reading it at the time. Good warning. Anyone who intends coming needs to take this advice and come in from Calliope end, Only about 35 ks of good road to what looks like a beatuiful spot.

The road to take after Calliope township is the road to Monto - think it is about 9k out of town, turn left - follow it down - the campground is well signposted on your left hand side.

If some would prefer some creature comforts, 23.7kms to the south is Ubobo, where you can camp at the Discovery Centre http://www.boynevalley.org.au/discovery-centre/ for $10 per person per night, with full use of showers, toilets, BBQ's and laundry.

Personally, I prefer the idea of being near the water.

I stayed at the free camp last year, and although the google satellite maps show not much water near the camp, in fact at that time the water was just about lapping at the outer campsites.  Don't know what it's like this year though, we sure do need some rain to fill the tanks and dams

I don't take much notice of those pictures, because I know they're not current. There was a lot of rain last year, so hopefully there's still a good amount of water there.

I will be back up that way in a few weeks. Live at Biggenden behind Childers, will get in touch when I get back up there.

JacMac lives in Gin Gin, although he doesn't seem to have been on here for a while. If you could make contact with him I am sure he would meet up for a chat, perhaps PM him. Very nice man.
Welcome to the forum by the way, you've come to the right place.

We decided on the third week of April Rocket, because school goes back on the 15/4.

Everyone tends to arrive whenever suits them so no particular date is set.

You would have been there right after all that rain. Hopefully we won't get any more bad weather in early April, or we may have to rethink the timing or venue. Thanks for the photos.

I have met only a couple of GNs and was hoping to attend some of the meet-ups. Unfortunately I will be away for all of April and will miss the Caliope get together. I'll be looking out for the next one.
