LOL Boothie. Rod would love to find him a new home, unfortunately he is a mummy's boy and won't be parted from me. He frets and won't eat and pulls feathers out. ashamed So he will be travelling with us wherever we go, but maybe we'll see you on he road. aww

RodLainie, did you have a licence when you got him? I thought you had to have one to own native birds, but it might only be in NSW. Enquire at this web-site give some info.

Thanks Gerty. Unfortunately that website doesn't give the requirements for transporting an Eclectus parrot into WA. He is registered in NSW by the breeder but doesn't need a license. Thanks for your help. I am just at a loss as to whether it is required or not and where to find info.

Yes you do require a Bird licence in WA for all native birds and if they catch you with it it will be removed and placed in quarrantine at your expense.

Hi Guys

I have now found out the travel permit needed to take our Eclectus Parrot into WA. It's called an Import license and to take him back from WA a Export License. If anyone needs to do the same this is the people to contact to organise your license are Ph 08 94232441 wildlifelicensing@dec.wa.gov.au

Hope this helps anybody travelling with birds. It's not easy to find these people. You do have to give them 3 days at least to process and you must state the exact day you are crossing the border.
