We are currently camped at Pt Lowly and and it's a good site except that ,

1/ Were in the no generator site but most cannot read as they have them on, one has his on 24/7

2/ Dogs not on leads crapping all over and the owners not picking it up

3/ Motorhomers spread out with there trailers saving spots for there mates

whinge over

Hi Barrie, it's a lovely spot, we were there about 4 months ago and loved it. Yes it's a pity some people are like that and spoil it for others, you feel like picking up the dog turds and leaving them at the door step of the owners, just doing your duty as a tidy camper, wonder what reaction you'd getfurious. They'd be the first to complain if you upset them I bet. Oh well enjoy it just the same have a  Happy New Year and hope the next camp spot is better.

Regards

Sue & Steve.

We stayed there Nov 2011 and I emailed the local council complimenting them on the clean toilets but also with a suggestion that a sign " all dogs must be on a leash" be installed as dogs roaming freely will do their business anywhere with owners being un-aware and/or not careing

Well the damge has been done
Council will be soon charging people to camp there and enforcing a max of 2 week stay
Like always some have spoilt it for the rest

I live in Whyalla and have seen the goings on first hand

Quote

"Whyalla Council hopes a proposed camping fee at Point Lowly will end overcrowding of the popular recreation site.

At times, more than 100 people are keen to use 45 campsites and the council says some overstay a 14-day limit.

Council CEO Peter Peppin says a $5 per day camping fee might be a way to solve the problem"

Was passed at the last council meeting before xmas

This maybe worth a try, heard it some time back.

Pick up dog mess, place on news paper, place this on owners doorstep ( when home) light paper ,knock on door & walk away.

Their first reaction is to put the fire out so they stamp on the paper, the rest is obvious.

Looks like it, smells like it, OH S#!t.
