Thanks for the heads-up John.  Won't ask my friend to try and get me one this time though.  She's not young enough to compete with people who are que'd up from daylight, and get items 6 at a time.

Will have to wait 'till I can go down there myself.  The nearest one to me is in Bundaberg, and I can't get down there yet.

Cheers,

Sheba.

I have the single burner and they are a great little stove (one cannister).

For anyone who may not be aware of it, there can be the danger of them exploding if a too large pot or pan is placed on the burner grille, only pots or pans the same size of the burner grille, as larger ones can deflect the heat down on the area the cannister is in and cause an explosion.   I know of one person that use a too big frypan and had just moved away from the stove when it exploded, luckily they were not hurt but could have suffered serious injury or possibly death if they had been leaning over it when it exploded.

The two burner ones sound great and I know from previous comments are very hard to get hold of in some places.

Bear in mind these are quite safe if used correctly and safety advice given with the product is followed.

I had been on the look out for a two burner for a long time when the 'Ubeaut' came on the market around 2yrs ago at $100!   So I purchased one.  Works well too.

Since then I have seen lots of them for far less than what I paid.  Just like the latest Aldi one.  There are 4 Aldi stores within 2 to 5km from our place, so we can usually pick up their specials without queueing up at opening time.

Mine is great in that it comes in a case that includes a pair of silicon tongs & an egg slice, plus a space for two spare gas bottles.  It also has a very good non stick light weight hotplate that fits in the case as well.  I put in a piece of cut to measure non stick/easy clean silicon hot plate cover plus a few paper towels & a hip flask of oil. Oops, forgot to mention two silicon egg rings that live in the case too.

With this kit & the Engel permanently in the Patrol we are self sufficient & ready for a BBQ at any time.

I often use it for a home BBQ when there is only SWMBO & I.  I stand it on the massive 5 burner home BBQ!  Quicker & easily cleaned.

We have been using these butane cookers (have two single burner ones in old drill cases with cast iron griddles & assorted cooking implements) for around 12 years with no problems but I have heard of one exploding.  .. a friend of my daughter.  Some of the local chinese resturants bring them (the single burner ones - red of course) to the table to heat dishes like Mongolian Lamb & Hotpots.

I'll watch that large pot issue though.   Wonder how it applies to my hotplate that covers both burners?  I suppose that it is OK as it doesn't extend over the canister section.
