Tenterfield options

Rocked into the Tenterfield Showgrounds today thinking it would be a cheap option like in other towns.  What a surprise to find it priced at $25 for a powered site for two people.  Not much to look at with the toilets etc next to some stables.  Back into the main part of town and found Seven Nights Caravan Park off the BP servo.  $20 for a powered site with nice grassed sites and good facilities.

Word on the street is that the council owned showgrounds coped a bit of flak from the local caravan park owners re being undercut.  Hence the helty price at the showgrounds.   This might be happening all over.

Here for a couple of days and then on to Lismore or thereabouts.

Ian

Wingham (NSW) show ground is the same, was $18 per night, now $25, they have new facilities, but aren't cleaned regularly (since one of the care takers passed away) and are "controlled" by some very unfriendly permanent residents.

Thanks for the info, Ian.

When heading east, try stopping at Casino's Glen Valley CP at $20/night or $120/week for a powered site. The park is at the eastern end of Casino on the Lismore road (Bruxner Hwy) but set well back from the road so virtually no noise, very quiet, and lovely friendly people; we're here until early or mid next week so perhaps we could meet up here?

We'll be heading for Tenterfield next and were looking to book into Craig's CP, $23/night; it had good reviews. Perhaps we'll look into this other park.

Sorry we missed  you.  Passed through Casino on last Thursday and on to Lismore where we intended staying at showgrounds but it was taken over by some gay and lesbian festival.  On to Nimbin and one  of the nicest showgrounds we have stayed at.  $15 a night for power and good facilities.  Friendly place etc.  Presently at Woodenbong showgrounds at $10.   Ok here with a few other campers.  On towards home at Burrum Heads tomorrow.

Pity - you're moving too fast for us, Ian! ;)  Perhaps another time...

We stayed at the Lodge C/P up the hill from the showgrounds. Same price but nicer.
