Engel 57 Litre Combi Fridge / Freezer

Have a 57L Combi which was only used for 6 months on extended trip around the block in 2007.  Was mounted in back of HiAce and not treated harshly at all.  Been in storage (spare bedroom) for past 4 years and now will not cool at all cry  It has the LED readout and I am in the process of replacing the battery for that (apparently it only lasts 2 years).  It turns on and runs but does not appear to cool / freeze at all and just keeps running.  Excuse my ignorance but is there a simple reset button somewhere or does it sound terminal hmm  Have access to a top auto electrician but not sure if we have to find an Engel dealer to diagnose and hopefully fix the problem.  Cheers

If you can hear the compressor working, then you either have lost the gas, or the compressor is faulty (Known to have valve problems).

Thanks DeBe.  Looks like a visit to Dr. Engel........bugger cry  Maybe it needs to run occasionally so it doesn't happen again.  Cheers and thanks for the reply smile

I think if it has been sitting for 4 years not going the compressor seals dry out. On our boat i always ran the engine & compressor every couple of weeks as this stopped the problem. I have just bought a Primus 65l Mammoth for the Prado and camping, and am using it as a backup fridge freezer in my annexe ( I'm parked up for the next 12 months or so, helping out on friends vienyard). I was told I'm better running it full time rather than leave it sitting doing nowt.
