Last Weekend our Rural Fire brigade conducted it's 18th community santa run around the streets of Mt Riverview where we have santa talk to the children and provide them with a lolly each normally a chupa chup, this year however there was a slight change to proceedings when we were advised by district office to respond under lights and Siren to a rapidly growing Bush Fire in the lower mountains (we had a crew for each vehicle organised just in case of an event like this) and both vehicles shown in attached picture took off to the Fire creating history as the First trucks to respond to a fire fully decked out in Christmas decorations.
Just for interest I was driving the front vehicle with Santa on the back.
Good old fashioned Aussie Humour.Good one Firies...Where would we be without these selfless men and women..................I mean Ladies and Gentlemen.

Unfortunately bad things happen in this world but there are people out there who rarely get recognised for the absolutely fantastic job they do.
The guys and gals from all the CFA's around the sticks,Those wonderful people from the SES who help out in times of need, and the hundreds and thousands of people who donate their time in some way or other to to help others.
From the humble Tea lady volunteering in hospitals around the country,to the ladies who run the tuckshops in our schools.
From myself and I am sure every one of the GN fraternity,a heartfelt thanks and wishing them all a Very Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year.

We had the same thing happen a couple of years ago, we went back to the shed first to drop off Santa and non firefighters on the truck. I think other brigades had responded.
I notice your Santa is up the back of the truck, I believe we aren't allow to any more in our district. He has to sit in the truck. I think it costs us about $300 for the packs of lollies given out.
Took Santa to meet the children at the local well known decorated home (usually around 300 on Christmas eve) on the back of fire truck 2 and we got the opposite effect this time about an hour and a half in the skies opened with Santa and lots of kids rather wet

At Maldon they have the CES running around for hours on Xmas morning giving the kids lollies etc.
Wondered what the sirens were going off for as they seemed to be short runs and often and they seemed to be all over the town.
When I heard one that seemed real close I went out front of the station and there were kids out on the footpath and not long after a small ute with santa on the back came along and stopped at each house and gave out a present and some lollies.
Was good to see the town pulling together. The night before I could here the local brass band playing carols and people singing so was real xmasy for a day or too.
Regards Brian
