In all the kms, and all the vans and travellers I see in the course of my work, I have not met another Grey Nomad on the road.
I was sure I'd encounter fellow GN's out in the beyond, but I'm disappointed. For all the caravanners and happy campers I see on the road, I would have thought some of them would be GN's.
Or maybe they're out there and just too shy to say g'day. Don't be shy. If you see me on the road out there anywhere, you are most welcome to approach for a quick chat. Or call me on channel 40 UHF radio, which you should be monitoring all the time you are on the highway.
We pull into roadhouses for fuel, food and a place to camp for the night. Sometimes we have to park up in a parking bay between roadhouses for the night. We can only work in daylight/sunshine hours.
So, don't be shy if you see "Cruising Granny" out there somewhere. Please approach to say "g'day".

The people on this forum are a very small group compare with the grey nomads out there the only time I have come across people from this forum is by arranged meeting . But most people on the road are great people even though they are not on this forum I think they are to interested in having a good time
I'm sure some of you would say g'day. Thanks Pauline. It just goes to show what Brickies said. There are thousands out there, and only a small section is on this or any other forum. I was just commenting on the percentage of nomads to the kms I cover - about 23000 in 6 weeks. You'd think there would be a small sprinkling of GN's among them. It's a big country, but a small world when you have wheels under you.

Hi CG I was looking for you when I was up Emerald way last winter. Lots of wide loads but no Granny. Days later you posted that you had stayed out at the dam. Just missed you.
Sorry Granny, our trip across your way early next year has had to be put on hold, otherwise I would surely have kept an eye out for you - another time perhaps.

CG, I would certainly wave if I saw you. I just wonder how your vehicle copes with the huge mileage you do?
Hi Granny, we get annoyed when you see another caravan, camper, camper trailer etc etc coming towards you and you give them a wave but get nothing in return, I mean how hard is it to lift your hand for a split second to give a wave, yes you do have to have both hands on the wheel but even a raised finger does the trick. Anyway we wave to all, hope our paths cross some day and we can wave, etc.
Wondered where you had gone to CG, great to see you are getting plenty of work out there in the playground. I will certainly stop to say hello if I come across you anywhere.

I got a kick out of my first caravan wave heading out to Goondiwindi in early October.

I understand what you are saying Granny, and Brickies is right. We have been on the road now for almost 18 months, and met many travellers in that time. Apart from arranged meetings (rare) with fellow forum members, and almost tripping over you (granny) in Adelaide, we have not come across any other forum members on the road. The stickers we had did not attract any interest from other travellers, so that did not work, nor did having the same forum Avatar name as our van.
A lot of our forum members are hopefuls, planners, wannabees or part time travellers, I personally feel those on the road permantly do not spend as much time on this forum as those in the planning stages. Granny, from the sounds of the work you have been doing, much of it has been fairly remote, places where a lot of Grey Nomads are not kitted out for travel. Not surprising you have not encounted too many other vanners on the road.
