When I set out in a few months will be our first trip ( my little foxy Lucy) when you go to a caravan park and set up camp when I need to have a shower etc I am really hoping Lucy wont yap while I am not there?
I know she will be ok after a while until she gets use to the fact that I will come back to her?
When we got a pup once, the breeder told us to leave him alone for at least 1 hour or so every day, and then come back without fussing over him. After a while, the time got longer and sometimes shorter, but it works.
We did this with all of our dogs since then, and they knew to wait, and we will come back.
I must admit though, one of the current dogs is a "yapper" and will still yap at noises and passers-by regardless..................love to find a cure for that one.
Not very old for a Foxy Jen but old enough for behaviour patterns to be well and truely entrenched, suggest you try leaving her alone for short periods EVERY DAY (minutes for a start) and don't make a fuss of her when you return, gradually extend the time.
Remember, Foxies are a working breed, they were bred for stamina as well as to chase, dig, bark furiously and annoy the heck out of foxes they also become very territorial, because of these characteristics they require lots of exercise, a tired Foxy is a well-behaved Dog.
if you didnt want your dog to" yap "you can get a collar that emits citronella on vibration of bark it is not harmfull but dog doesnt like smell so trains itself that when barking gets a shot of it
