It's free to camp at the showgrounds, which is strange because you drive past a CP to get into the showgrounds. They're on the eastern side of the river. Drive down the gravel road that runs parallel to the highway.

There is a toilet, but as I didn't use it, I can't comment on it's cleanliness. And apparently there is a tap near the toilets too.

There's plenty of room, we parked near the trees and had plenty of shade.

This is still a great free camp - water available, flush toilets, and apparently the pub does fantastic food :)

Think I heard on the radio this morning that the council has changed the free park at Bendemeer to $5.00 per night payable at the caravan park, still 24 hour limit.
There are new owners at the van park who are trying to make a go of it, and the pub meals are still excellent.

Yes - it does cost to stay at Bendemeer now - still a good camp. The caravan park get the money for cleaning the facilities, seems a good deal.
