JAYCO has issued a nationwide recall of more than 700 caravans and campers after fears axles could slip out of alignment.
According to a company safety alert, axle U-bolt nuts on vehicles with chassis numbers between P12118 and P81107 may have been installed with incorrect torque settings.
In a statement, Australia's biggest manufacturer of recreational vehicles said this could result in suspension springs moving and affecting the axle's alignment.
"This may cause the 'van to be less stable than normal while towing," Jayco warned.
Owners of suspect RVs are urged to contact their nearest Jayco dealer or service agent to arrange for a free inspection and rectification if required.
The work could also be undertaken at Lube Mobile centres.
In a letter to owners, Jayco's national service manager Paul Morgan wrote: "We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience, however it is necessary to ensure the safe operation of your Jayco."
Owners experiencing any problems or difficulties in making arrangements with Jayco dealers or service agents, should contact the company's service department on Free Call 1800 331 601, or 03 8792 2136 if in Victoria.
