Just had the pan removed and transmission oil flushed on my 2008 diesel auto Prado , Is there a general rule for this can't get an answer on how often this should be done , The Auto transmission workshop that did this for me said you should have your transmission serviced yearly when towing a caravan . this work that has just been done has made a big difference to to the gear changes much smoother
When I was in my 20s an old guy I knew (no, not as old as I am now) told me of his younger days selling cars. He told a customer that the car of interest had an "automatic oil changer", all you had to do was add a quart every 100 miles! He sold the car!
every 20 000km when towiing and more often if your transmission temps are getting on the higher side of things. You may say that oil is expensive but it is cheap insurance compared to some of the horror cost of rebuilding a later type outo. cheers blaze
I had my transmission serviced just prior to the trip to north QLD by Marco's in Penrith where they service a lot of Taxi's and specialise in transmissions, their recommendation if doing a lot of towing is every 20000 klm they also suggest increasing the size of the transmission cooler.
