You wont beleive this i hardly do but i have received notification i have won a recipe / cooking competition!
My kids come over for tea a couple of times every week, they are 12 and 16, its a good bonding time for us all. Its always a challenge cooking for them because they are both very fussy eaters. One is a vegetarian and the other has a terribly restrictive and limited food diet. But i enjoy cooking for them and their company a lot.
Well after a dinner a while back after they had gone home one night i was reading the junk mail and saw a recipe competition so i entered the meal i had just made for them. It was for inclusion in a glossy 50th Golden Anniversary cooking book being made for one of the supermarkets. I got mail yesterday saying i had won and they wanted to get some pictures of me to include in the book. Not bad rewards either! So good!
One little problem is i dont have a clue what i made or anytging about the recipe i made up! All i can remember about it was that it was mildly spiced chick pea based. I suspect the one bottle of home brew i was having after the kids had gone home helped me with that winning hand!
Thanks for the reply Dunmovin. They have asked me if i am willing to have my photo taken, not so keen on that one! The prize is a voucher for 4 x $50.00 for food at their supermarket, but i still dont know who i am dealing with, i think Foodland but i really dont know. Certainly that is who i sumitted my recipe to,I can remeber that atleast, so i am being carefull here just in case anyway. Also two copies of the book which will be handy because i cant recall the exact recipe.
Just a bit of fun, I can tell you this will be the first and only time i am likely to win any cooking / recipe competion unless, just maybe a cooking book about toasted sandwiches is made.
Peter congratulations. That is just wonderful. Your girls will be very proud of their masterchef Dad. Your culinary skills will become ledgenary. Keep up the good work.
Sharon.
