Hi Denise, and welcome to the site - you are a game lady - with no camping experience - but you will get a lot of help from this site, but can I suggest you re-post this in the "Solo" sub forum on here - that is where most of the solo's post and read - there are heaps of people on the road all the time- I am sure someone will be in your vicinity.smilesmile

We sure will Denise. I'm a solo nomad too, although I'm travelling with my sister and brother-in-law at the moment.

You just ask the questions and there'll be plenty of people willing to give advise and support.

 Gday...

Welcome Denise. As others have said there are lots of people on this forum who are friendly, experienced, and offer good advice and support - oh yeah, and a couple of cheeky ones as well thankfully. biggrin You will quickly get the hang of it on the road.

Actually, I believe the majority of "Solos" read all the sub-forums and not just the Solo one. I think we discussed this issue a long time ago biggrin

cheers - John

You are probably right rockylizard - I read all that interests me, but do know some who only read one of the sub-forum's, for whatever reason. So having it posted it in "solos" could be a good idea, doncha reckon?????

Denise - every day on the road is a learning experience - feel free to ask lots of questions, as rocky says, you will get the hang of it, both the site and travelling.

Have you checked out the employment section on the home page of the site - sometimes some good little jobs there.

Hello and welcome Denise,

This forum is part of "The Grey Nomads" website as no doubt you've noticed. It is set up and operated by journalist/authors Cindy and Jeremy Gough and moderated by Cindy (aka "Webmaster")

They are also authors of an excellent book that's full of info for newcomers and old hands alike. You can check it out by clicking on http://www.thegreynomads.com.au/featurespages/guidebook%20page.html.

The solos sub forum is a great place to go for issues specific to solo travelling, for more general posts and information this is the place. There is also a sub forum called "I digress" which is where to go to have a conversation on matters that are unrelated to travelling but may be of interest.

Check the other sub forums as well as there is a wealth of information there.

cheers,

Jim

(PS Cindy, don't forget my commissionwink)

Denise, if you need any help on setting up, etc, we're only over at Gulgong (I'm a sparky & handyman type)  & would be pleased to meet you.  Can't help in your early travels as we'll be heading south in the next few months.

Darrell & Sandra

Rockylizard, I found out today that some solos only read the solos section and knew nothing of what I was talking about from other sections.

Welcome to the forum Denise. Hope you enjoy it here and don't forget to ask advice when you need it. There are no silly questions, just unanswered ones.

Don't forget to check the work wanted & volunteering pages on this site as they can have some good stuff.

The sites listed below are some of the ones I used when travelling.

Hello thank you ever so much.

I have sorta been thru hell, and I hope to be away from here in the next 2 weeks, my old bus is having a paint job, just because you have the arse out of your pants you dont have to look lkie it.

As soon as the bus is back I will pack into it and have all my furniture stored, now that's the hard part as when will I ever see my things again!

I will keep in touch with you both, feels good to know someone is there to give advise

Thank-you to you both

Hi and welcome Denise, after the Tassie trip I will be travelling north and hope to catch up with you.

Keep posting your adventures when you start and we may be in the same vicinity and arrange a meet up.

Keep an eye on the Solo's forum, as Jules said, where us solos tend to congregate.

John
