I previously said I would try to keep forum members updated on bushfires as they occured, this is proving impossible due to the shear number of fires at this early stage in the season, which doesnt look good for the rest of this years season especially in the grass lands where fires move extreemly quickly.
There are websites for each state which I have listed and I suggest that those on the road should check on a regular basis for the state you are in.
Northern Territory www.pfes.nt.gov.au
Queensland www.fire.qld.gov.au
Western Australia www.fesa.wa.gov.au
New South wales www.rfs.nsw.gov.au
Victoria www.cfa.vic.gov.au
South Australia www.cfs.sa.gov.au
Tasmania www.fire.tas.gov.au
Australian Capital www.esa.act.gov.au
I hope this information will help to keep all of our forum members safe as we explor Australia.
Just remember if you get caught by a fire face the car towards the fire keep away from trees wind up the windows turn your lights on wet something to put over your mouth and then get down as low as possible in the car and cover yourself with a blanket and do not resurface untill the sound of the fire has subsided and do not let pets out of the car, the sad thing is that if caught by a bushfire your life is seriously at risk so its always best to know what is happening and avoid the area.
