Purchased an Avan Cruiseliner 5 Today

Well done Terry, what model do you have (floor plan)?  The 100kg ball weight should be ok for the Xtrail but it is not recommended to use a WDH on them, I had an Avan Aliner for 7 years, I put stronger (thicker) gauge rear coil springs on my Xtrail (Pedders) and it worked well and prevented sag.

This is the link for the different model (floor plans) for Cruiseliners;

http://www.avan.com.au/products_cruiser.html

 Towing with an Xtrail is discussed on this link;

http://www.australianxtrail.com.au/Towing.htm

I really enjoyed my Aliner and the Xtrail and of all the RV's I had reckon my times travelling Oz with the Aliner were the most memorable.

I had the full annex and awning, but only every used the annex once or twice, much preferred the awning only and then only when staying in one spot for a few days.....

WDH (Weight Distribution Hitch).....see this GN link Terry;

http://thegreynomads.activeboard.com/t42743753/weight-distribution-systems/

Re floor plan......sorry Terry I did not see the "5" in the subject title.

Mate of mine in the Avan Club has the same floor plan, is very happy with it.  He removed the HWS for more space.

Purchased an Avan Cruiseliner 5 Today

Will be on the road permanently either just before or after Christmas.

Nice unit came with HWS & external shower. Mictowave, Big front boot, 50w Solar Panel, awning & annexe

Only problem is that between visits to dealer the inside shrank?

Had been thinking of all the stuff I could fit in and now I'm cutting it back at least 50%. Probably I need abour 25%.

Now only need to buy a vehicle to tow it with. Looking at a Xtrail.

Hope to see you out there.

Terry

Hi Terry - congratulations - you will have fun - just look at Dougwe - having a ball!!!! The thing is take what you think you need, by the time you do your first big trip, you will find there are things on board that are just taking up space, because you have never used them - even clothes - a thing I have yet to learn - as Billeeeeeee will tell you - I have far too many - but I now have a new scheme - if I buy something, I have to get rid of something!

Have seen a few X trails towing A vans.

Have fun out there -

Well congratulations Terry, you won't regret it one little bit, I'm sure of that and I tell you that for free.

From your last PM and then email I didn't think it would take you long mate. Have fun out in the playground. Maybe we could be in convoy at some stage.

 Have no idea what a WDH is so googled. Was really hoping it was World Database of Happiness

as I would fit it immediately!

I was suprised hws took up so much room. The big boot at the front has a lot of room in it.

I think I'll take the bare minimum for first three months and slowly add anything I can really see the need for.

As his only worked on 240V, his reasoning was if you had power you were probably in a caravan park so could use their hot showers etc or could boil a jug.   I would imagine that it would be ok for a generator though.
