When I have my 3 way dometic fridge running on gas there is burning smell inside the Avan. I can't seem to be able to remove the outside vents to have a look. Any ideas please.

Don't quite follow why you can't remove the outside vents, they should just have clips that undo and then just lift off. Lift them from the end that undoes first. Perhaps the Avan wallah suggested by Milo can help.

Check that the flue is being adequately vented to the outside and is unobstructed. On mine the flue comes out at the right hand end of the top vent.

I'm not real clued on absorption fridges but maybe there are soot deposits in the flue that goes up through the boiler. It may be necessary to get a fridge techie that has absorption fridge experience to have a look at it.

At the top of the boiler there is a removable angled pipe, that directs the fumes to the outside, this may have become dislodged, to check this you need to remove the top vent, this must be possible as it is held on with screws into the van body, though some vents can be removed by undoing a fastener at each end of the vent, the vent frame then remains attached to the van.

Cheers

David

Doug,David is right. The angled pipe on ours had come adrift, was held in place with a flimsey little bracket. We put it back in place and held it there with a good dollop of silicon, magic stuff.

Thanks Jim, David and Brandt and thanks for the phone call Brandt.

I went and spoke to a CV Repairer in Port Kembla which is only 30 mins or so further north yesterday and have it booked in there at 8.00am Monday. The Dometic Tech will be there and will check it out for me, it looks like it will be covered by warranty, only problem is I thought the purchase receipt for the Avan was with all the other paperwork I have with me but NO, I will ring the dealer in Pakenham where I got it from and see if they will fax a copy up or do something anyway if needed.

I was leaving here Monday morning anyway, so to go via Port Kembla is not a real drama as I can cut across from there to the Hume Hwy to get down to Greens Lake.

I have learnt another thing, take ALL paper work with you. I thought I was organised.

Milo, I rang them and their service man had the day off but did offer to look at it Monday but I didn't really want to go backwards and I found out about the place in Port Kembla.
