need to be mechanically minded to fit but relatively easy

thanks everyone, the webasto is a good brand and for that price compared to buying one in australia is very cheap ,but wondering about the fittings if they would be different to an australian model

We just fitted one in the new van and its the one you pointed out,Think they are made in Russa by what I could find out. works fine. Would have liked a little bit more exorst but its up and running, Made the tank out of a old 12 lt SS fire extinguisher. Picked it up from the scrap bloke for $5 had a bung welded in the side and one of thoes  fuel gauges that fit in the small out board tank is just right, Its fitted under the front A frame ,used 2 crome exorst brakets from a truck joint..All up $50-60. and it looks great...

Hi Guys, Fitted it my self. Its the second one Ive done and it was much easier as the floor was flat . They arnt that hard to do, just find a spot that will let you cut a hole in the floor where there are no cross members under neath, and where you can make a cover for it on top where you wont trip over it, like under the bed. I have the controler near the bed so I dont have to get out to turn it on when its a cold morning.

G,day TAJ ,

We put a Truma gas heater in and it has been fantastic .

Runs off the gas bottles and doesn't seem to use a lot . Very quiet .

Some CPs do not allow diesel heaters now because of the noise .

Total cost fitted was about $1700 .

Hey from WA, we have hit a real extended cold spell over here. Have a coromal corvair, looking at the diesel heater, where is the obvious place to put the unit, and then the tank and the inlet and exhaust, can't quite get what hubby wants to know, he is trying to find a diagram for the fitting. He could do it himself, but would like to know a bit more, like what BobnBev used. Cheers and hope someone can help. Will use the link in previous notes. BandM

We have installed a gas heater in our van after one night spent free camping across the Nullarbor ,was the coldest night ever spent in any place.

Do not have to really use it here in central QLD. I do not like the Diesel heater due to the odour from the diesel. Maybe people cannot smell it but I can.  also gas it pretty eco friendly to use,i worked out about if running it for around fifty hrs straight it would only use a 9kg gas bottle. But once the van is warmed up we just turn if off or right down.

Have been running a diesel heater periodically over the last few years and I've also not experienced any noticeable odour .. I have however been to a friends MH and did notice a diesel taint when entering. This makes me think it may have to do with the layout and positioning when installed .. I don't know .. but ok with mine (.. were same brands)

My fuel economy I find is very good .. quite happy to leave it running down low in the middle of a southern winter in western NSW .. especially when free-camping and the temp doesn't rise above 2C for 4 days .. interior temp set to float comfortably between 15 and 17C
