The Long, Long, Trailer, movie

For anyone starting out on the road, wanting advice or helpful hints, or just any info to get them started, You should be watching The Long Long Trailer movie on Gem, 90, at the moment. Saturday Midday. Starring Lucy and Desi Arnez.

You will either find all the answers you need  or decide its not for you, still relevant after all these years, made in 1953.

Very very funny. biggrinbiggrinbiggrinsmilesmile

The part that really sticks in my mind is where Lucy has all the Rocks hidden in the van.

Me too JRH.

It reminds me of when our kids were little and the boys decided (without our knowledge) to secret away a rock, a shell and a fish from everywhere we went. We found the rocks while we were trying to locate the foul smell of decaying fish.

BTW...the kids still rate that as the best family holiday that we ever had. biggrin biggrin biggrin

Good movie Marj,

I will watch it again today. smile

And not far fetched, I remember one trip we did around Oz where SWMBO decided she wanted to collect coloured rocks and stones (no bigger than a fist most of them) to put in the garden when we got home, to remind her of our trip.

The floor of the back of our then car was full of them!   So I can relate to that! furious

Just watched it right through, not sure if I've seen it before. So many rocks. So many funny moments. Caravan too big, replace the car. Not with a convertible.
Didn't they have 4x4's in those days. Travelling in the van preparing dinner. OMG.
Learnt a few lessons just from watching it.

Don't collect rocks, don't take so many pots and pans, don't try to tow over the highest mountain in the country.

Glad they don't have those "Tannoy" speakers in caravan parks over here, wouldn't get much peace with them blasting messages off all the time.......

Funny, the movie may be old but so many things are still relevant in the movie today, including the wife reading maps and giving backing instructions etc, etc.......
