I am new to this site and preparing to get into the grey nomad roll, as soon as we finish our overseas trip to USA tomorrow we plan to be on the road in Aus within 18 months.
Regarding saging rear ends particulary with coils, here is a little trick my father who is now 85, used on his Ford Maverick (nissan Patrol).
He towed a 20ft Viscount all over the place for work and pleasure for years.
24 tennis balls inside each of the rear coils works fine and no problems with sway or sagging. load control bars used as well but no other mods to the rear suspension at all.
It gives nice progressive weight control as well. Warning !!! don't use cricket balls.
I used them in my VR Commodore Aclaim with the independant rear end, 12 each side, VT uses 14 each side.
It stopped rear tyre wear fro 12,000 km to 80,000 km. $10 fro Clints crazy bargains, not hundreds from suspension places, no air shocks either.
Easy to fit on the road if any happen to bust, just carry a few spares.
Hopefully newer vehicles are much better controlled.
