Is There ?

After Collingwood beats the Swans on Friday I am heading for Mackay Qld  to get a few things from Bunnings and Others...I was wondering if there was a Place to stay for a couple of days North of Mackay   I am still ahead of my arrival time at Shute Harbour Qld.......And  do not want to spend to much time in the overrated Airlie Beach.....I will though be leaving the coaster at Seabreeze caravan park for 8 Days whilst Shirls and I frolic in the surf and pretend we are 21 again  Bikini's and Speedo's  I'll post a snap when it happens...Thank you one and all....

Please do not be bashful and answer My herart felt request

Don't have an answer for you Jimbo. But hope you and Shirls enjoy your frolic in the surf. Hope it won't be too hot for you up there.

Seaforth C/P is a nice quiet place, though you have to be set up with solar power or not dependant on it, lots of fishing there and is about 45 kls north of Mackay, lovely spot.

vkgreenie   As much as I could afford double the price I would not even Contemplate a C/P at Airlie Beach  The best part of that Area is the Market of  a Sunday     I actually Dislike it   I rather cannonvale

Hey Jimbo & Dougwe

Will agree with you Jimbo in reference to Airlie Beach CP's. Been through there a thousand times, and the parks are all over priced. We lived in Mackay, 20 odd years ago, when it was a lovely NQ sugar town, and often visited Airlie, when it was also a tropical laid back back water. However both places have gone gang busters...Mackay is a huge mining hub, and Airlie back packers paradise. That's progress I guess.

Although we haven't been there (Airlie)  for a couple of years, we have stayed out of town on the Conway Beach Road for $15 a night, but it doesn't suit everybody. There is also a couple of parks near the O'Connell River which I believe are well priced and quite popular. Also look at St.Helens Beach with the turn off near Calen.

Dougwe, we are not aware of any beaches in the area, you can hang out for free, especially in the Airlie area. Maybe on the islands if one can afford to get there?

Hope that helps guys.

Cheers and beers

Have to stay at the Seabreeze Caravan Park Cannonvale...Shirley went and Paid the fees by card  Damn   $ 35 per night   $5 to store the Coaster for 8 days  That's not bad   But $35 per single person...That's criminal...I would have bumbed around until at Least Wednesday...Don't have to worry about  the pies for this year........
