Only a small proportion of the electricity price rises in NSW can be attributed to the carbon tax (which I assume is what you are referring to). Most of it is because of the state government updating aging infrastructure. ================================================================================================================
Sorry have to disagree ! It is carbon tax related, as you say partially because of the carbon tax, But most of the Updating of Infrastucture is to Harness and distribute the so=called Green or Alternative energy This Green energy is the one that is dramatically increasing our power bills, If you think they have gone up a lot already, wait until next year when they go up at least another 40%, which means if your power bill this quarter was $200 ?? well next year that same quarter will be $280, with further increases forcast for the following years
So really it is all Carbon Tax related, And know one seems to want to explain about how much this will drop the emissions by ?? Because really this Carbon Tax has got nothing to do with saving the planet,It's a money grab from the so called big polluters by the goverment, and these big companies will in turn grab it back from us, with price increases for their product, and for any costs they incur from infrastucture changes they need to meet these new energy requirements.
We just have to realise, ? the goverments, [ all 3 parties ] do not care or listen to any of us, so if you have the money, pay the bill, if not don't ??

just enquired about prices in c/p in NSW about discount for groups of vans and was told that gas prices had gone up by 21c/litre and electricity by 40% since july, and her response was "how do we recover that"
Only way is price rises good onya Julia
It seems likely that more of us will be independant camping where ever we can

Actually, I've said before that I wouldn't be surprised if caravan parks start to investigate charging separately for electricity, it would be a big investment in the meters for each site and they'd have to work out how to actually get people to pay but with the way power is going up now and iin the future it might make sense. I've seen so many caravans running lights all night, aircon roaring away all day even when they aren't at home and even aircon going and all the windows and vents in the van open. If people had to pay for the power themselves I think they'd be a lot more sensible in how they use it.
Its so easy to jack up the prices and then blame it on the Carbon-tax... it used to be the GST! General costs are rising everywhere, and Australian producers are selling out to overseas-owned companies, if we let it get to us we'll all have nervous breakdowns! Other than using solar-panels to generate out own power and being economical where possible, we'll just have to pay up and shut up.

November last year was the end of the 60c/Kw feed in tarif (FIT). In NSW you might get 7c/Kw FIT or nothing now. Any Solar company advertising Never Get a power bill is false advertising. Remembering Night time No power generation from Solar, so you will have to import power during the night. So the power companys still get some income from there. Also there is an Infrastructure charge per day ( here in SA its Supply Charge @ 65.5c per day).

So rarely do I hear anyone making this point, Nicholstones - the whole idea of putting a price on carbon is to force people to reduce their use of power, etc. and lessen our pollution of the atmosphere. You may not believe in global warming but the climate is certainly changing, bringing a greater range of highs and lows, more extreme events; when will we be prepared to be more responsible, and not just blame the politicians? It would even reduce the bills we have to pay!
**end of (another) rant** ;))
