Another Scammer Story Ploy....Korman Adam

I have had a few of these over the years and most have the same storyline, they are overseas and buying for someone else, need your Paypal account etc.   This one is similar but a slight twist to it, maybe I should have put this in the "Humour" section.  Although they are targetting all sales advertising sites, not just this one, this one was on the Quokka Online from an ad I put in.   Reported to Quokka and now blocked.

in town at the moment because i'm deployed to a UN Forces
Japan(http://www.usfj.mil/) base for an entire year and due to the
nature of my work, It's hard to make a phone calls and visiting of
website are restricted but I squeezed out time to check this advert
and send you an email regarding it. I insisted on PayPal because i
don't have access to my bank account online as i don't have Internet
banking, but i can pay from my PayPal account, as i have my bank a/c
attached to it, i will need you to give me your PayPal email address
so i can make the payment asap for it and please if you don't have
PayPal account yet,it is very to set up, go to www.paypal.com.au and get
it set up,after you have set it up i will only need the e-mail address
to make the payment or send me an invoice.please do send me some pics
as well.... I have some question for you;

Are you the first owner of it?
where do you live?
When have you been using it?
How much will you be taking off your price for me?

Yeh I feel really sorry for him Daz (NOT).

No just reported him to Quokka who replied quick smart to say he was now blocked by them, also blocked his email address on mine, he'll have to invent a new name and open a new email address now, he he!

Left it to Quokka Gerty, I know most of us are a wake up to these Beth, but still like to pass them on in case someone who has never experienced selling online gets scammed, the more of us that are aware of these scumbags and the tactics and changing stories the better.

But geez, they should be a western name book or something, some of the names they use are pathetic!!

We had something similar when we sold our tinny, although we advertised it via our local paper, and some guy supposedly from the US texted us with the same sort of bluob as above, and asked us to reply to him via email - got 'suss' and reported it to the authorities.

we had a guy ringing up about our add for the mh in the cmca's wander mag , hadnt even been put yet
guy said he was from the mag but we rang up and they never heard of him...

darn scammers

 Sometimes the name rings true but their wording gives them away. Reads like a foreigner wrote it.

 Most of the ones I have received have phony sounding names Beth, but not to say that is always the case.

Re-reading my wording above, must have had a seniors moment, it was meant to say they should get hold of a western name book to at least use a name that sounds genuine.    You are right about the wording, like "how much is your car" when it is a caravan, and the price is already shown in the ad.....confuse no

I have a Motorhome for sale and receive these type messages frequently. Best bet is to just ignore the initial text you receive asking for details to be sent to an e-mail address. Sometimes when I'm in a jovial mood, I send details. Not long after comes the message listed above. What I say in my reply would not be appreciated if I published it here. But I never hear from them again !!

when I advertise on gumtree I have at the bottom of the ad, INTERNET CONTACT ONLY and CASH SALE ONLY, seems to do the trick

I have done something similar Wombat......and joy of joy, finally got a genuine buyer who has visited and inspected the goods and paid a deposit......hopefully will have my campervan sold in a couple of days thanks to Gumtree.......biggrin
