Question: Is there scientific evidence to prove that behaviours in people, animals, etc are affected by the full Moon. Have a friend who is Doctor and he swears casualty has a high number of people admitted when there is a full moon. I have noticed the moon has been full the last few days. (No I havent grown long nails, and become a vampire lol) But I have noticed other people have. lol. It takes a lot for me to lose my sense of humour. Sea Tides wax and wane with the moon lunar cycle. Any ideas. The word lunatic comes from lunar.
I get hairier and start howling at the moon, but I was hairy before , so nobody notices. The dogs in the neibourhood like to sing along. also.Maybe I should start putting the bite on people who owe me money.........Bill
Not sure if any scientist will give a definitive answer but last year I was listening to Dr Karl on the radio and he says there is truth in the full moon theories.
I won't go into particulars about my past employment but suffice to say there are more incidents in jails when the moon is full.
Also the casualty depts in hospitals prepare for more "clients" when the moon is full.
I know that when I worked in police stations it got super busy on full moons and all coppers used to know it was coming because of huge changes in behaviour of mental health patients etc.
Long spells of hot weather or very hot days can trigger things off too, especially in the tropics with humidity, they don't call it going "troppo" for no reason........
There is definately something in that full moon theory!! I work in a school and the kids are more "feral" when there's a full moon. My daughter works at the courts and they have more arrests and intervention order applications when a full moon also.
I worked at Broome Hospital admin for 5.5 years, and there was an influx of patients to A&E on the full moon. I don't know if it had anything to do with the "Staircase To The Moon" during the peak tourist season. A blue moon occurs if there is a second full moon within the same month. So I guess 2 full moons in the same month could stuff up the nutter numbers for that month, rather than spreading it across 2 months. The doldrums - that is the period of the monsoonal season build up from October to December or whenever the first rains start, can have an unhealthy affect on some people who suffer emotional or mental health problems. The incessant build up of heat and humidity without a breeze or any cooling relief can send some people over the edge. It is know as the suicide season in some places. Maybe they drink more beer and lose the plot.
