Maybe this is another reason why councils are closing down free camps do you think? The cost would start being a real nuisance for sure. I agree why would stupid people throw the rolls into the bin when their idiotic game had finished is beyond me

Just read on another forum about a guy caught in the St Lawrence free camp toilets with a drill, unwinding the large toilet rolls - he was fined $1500 apparently.
Had heard of this along the road, as well as the woman boasting of having 120 toilet rolls in her van (all stolen) - someone said there was a group from a certain motor home organisation who had a competition to se who could collect the most loo rolls, illegally, in a certain time. Once there was a winner, they threw them in the bin and started again!! Don't know the truth of this one. But someone was stealing the shower curtains from St Lawrence free camp - how low!

That is disgusting, a very low act. Obviously not one of us. My gosh, at Greens Lake I was always supplying the public toilets with rolls from my own supply. If there was anyone in there calling for toilet paper as their booth was without, I would pop the roll under the door to them and tell them to leave it in there for others. How could anyone be so ridiculous as to throw them in the bin at the end of their silly little game.

I know Gordon lol I did say another reason I know there are many
You would be surprised what people will take/steal.
A band playing at a local club filled one of those big drums with glasses as they packed up to leave.
I've seen people walk off with cardiac monitors from a hospital. The local maternity hospital now use disposable nappies as people stole the cloth ones, and it was cheaper to buy disposable ones.
A staff member saw a neonatal respitratory monitor on sale in a garage sale for $10, so she bought it and took it back to the NICU- they gave her the $10 back!!
Maybe instead of closing down toilet blocks because of toilet paper theft (if that is happening), leave the toilets open but BYO paper. I usually have one of those green shopping bags with disinfectant wipes, paper and hand sanitizer in it when I visit a public out house. I'm a bit fussy when it comes to the toot.

At the Railco free camp in Ravenshoe - you take your own paper - there are signs on the front of the toilet block telling you to do so - I usually like my own anyway, that thin, shiny stuff in some toilets is absolutely useless - and remember - one up, one down, and two to polish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think BYO toilet paper is a good idea. I always have some in my pocket when I visit public loo. I also was told by someone (2nd hand story) that she had met a lady who claimed to have over 80 stolen loo rolls in her van. If someone tells me they have done that I will be taking note of their rego no. & reporting them. They are the sort of people who spoil it for everyone else.
I like Doug's idea, all in one bag. Instead of like mine, spread out in different cupboards all over the van then can never find them. I'm off to rectify that now.
Didn't someone suggest the idea a while ago - Aldi bag, cheap toilet seat, roll of toilet paper and wipes - all in one bag for all situations - especially those long drop ones!

When you say a cheap toilet seat neilnruth, fdo you mean one of the cheap ones you get from Bunnings for under $10.00? and if so do you just remove the screws as you are not going to attach it securely. It might slip around a bit being plastic.

Think I'll be doing the same Alice. A thief is a thief, no matter how smart they think they are, and they're hurting everyone else who is honest.
I've often taken a can of flyspray in, given it a good spray, come back out and waited a few minutes till they stopped flying around before going back in.
Just to mention that tissues, sanitary products, disposable towels and so on will block toilet drains. Only toilet paper and you know what goes in a toilet.
GNs would all know that and be responsible.
It is surprising how many people are not aware, or perhaps do not care about the expensive nuisance they leave wherever they go. "But I've done it hundreds of times and never had a problem", they say. We all pay for their actions in some way or other.
Yep - in a free camp a while back, no paper in the loo - some nong took hand towel in to use instead - can't be the cost - 4 rolls Wondersoft $2 at Crazy Clarks -hand 2 rolls $3!!! Should I mention that was a "b.....p.....r" in a whizzbang????? When I said something, he just shrugged and kept on going on about his business.
Hi Julie, what were you doing in the mens toilet???
I'm sure you don't believe wombat that I am very naughty. I'm a good boy I am.
I think you have to say that cos nobody else would

Back in the days when we were young and backpacking, a friend went to Malta for a look. No paper? No problem! The locals just grabbed a leaf from the big old fig tree growing outside.
Now, perhaps this isn't a solution for some of our smaller leafed eucalypts, but ...
In April, Warsaw police detained a man who had stolen a toilet roll from a restaurant, breaking a holder worth $120. According to Polish law, the thief could face up to ten years in prison.
