Did you see any Ullysees butterflys? I had a house at Cardwell, and there were thousands in a red bush , just outside the house. Beautiful blue things. I sold thr house before Yasi, thankfully. Murray falls is worth a look, if you are in the area. Bill

I look forward to seeing photos of Paronella Park. I had been there many years ago, and did the night tour. How eerie! Well worth it! Our guide had us looking for 'creatures' and I spotted a tiny little frog...can't remember what he called it...was very rare to see it apparently. Pity I didn't take a photo.
Last year I was returning to the Tablelands from visiting friends in Tully, so took some photos of the swing bridge etc. It's such a fascinating place!
And Bill, I saw a swarm of those beautiful blue ones while visiting Tully.

Had an easy drive today, left Ingham and stopped at Cardwell to have another look at the beautiful beach scenery, I had been told that although it is signed NO CAMPING the area at the end of the Esplanade has had campers there overnight recently. It was around 10am when I passed there and there were a few vans parked then, I will investigate further on my way south. By passed Tully on the Bruce Highway and this time didnt visit Mission Beach either but had a look at El Arish from the van and wasnt overly impressed. I had decided to stop overnight for 2 nights at Liverpool Creek Camps6 #21 just before Paronella Park where I am booked in for Tuesday night. Driving from the south you could well think that you have lost the plot and just when you are sure that you are on the wrong road you will see Little Liverpool Creek but it still is a few kms on from there. A small compact camping ground with flushing toilets but no drinking water there are several seats and benches along the creek and very quiet. I have just photographed the biggest butterfly that I have ever seen it was 22cms across the wing tips and 16cms from head to tail tips, amazing, they grow things bigger in North Queensland so there is hope for me yet, must be the tropical climate. Aren,t they pretty! I had this red bush in my yard at Cardwell, and its covered in yhousands of them.I think its the emblem for the Cassowary coast council. We do get them on Maggie Is, but not as many as the mision beach area.Lovely things. Bill

These at Tully were all hovering over a dark pink bush. Maybe the colour attracts them. I just couldn't get close enough for a photo.
You certainly can pick the nice places John. I hope I get to stay at some nice places when I get out in the play ground properly. I think I will have to use you posts and blogg as a referral point.
