Hi Guys, I have been reading some of the other post on the merrits of 12v for free camping, and I recognise that being able to keep all the necessary items going on 12V from later afernoon until the next morning is vital to harmoneous relationships when free camping.
This leads me to consider the merrits of converting a 240v fridge to 12V operation.
While it is technicaly possible using a low KV brushless motor (to get the torque), I would like to know if anyone else has tried this. Or if here are any significant pitfalls that I have missed before I invest too much effort to test it.
Hi Plendo, I did one back when there were no Waecos , It was a westinghouse 220 lt and it ran very well. But now I wouldnt bother as there are some on eeebbaayy for around 6-700 new.
Its not easy with all that needs to be changed, and plus if you want to do a (good job) you would have to use a BD50 Danfoss.
They are around 6-700 on their own? The chinees compressors have brought the price down, but are the as good????
My thoughts dont!! buy one already set up sooo much easier...
