Lollies from your childhood - prices from today!

Currently in Broken Hill where today we had the pleasure of visiting Bells Milk Bar. True 1950s decor creates pleasant memories and great tastes from the past. According to the menu grilled steak and veg sold at two shillings. Our milkshake however was 2012 prices. Lollie selection was also from that era. More cafe photos soon on our travel blog.

Conversation lollies, clinkers, fantales, jaffas, gobstoppers and milkshake lollies. Loved collecting the wrappers from fantales.

Memories of lollies from my childhood were sherbert cones, traffic lights, caramel popcorn, milk bottles and my favorite was the freckles.

I was up in Far North Queensland recently, and the hubby and I found our self in this quaint little village called Yungaburra.

It is a beautiful country village that has a lot of history and reminds me of the good old days. Well we were wandering around and in this pump shop is a little old fashioned lolly shop, called C & G Lollies, that carries all the types of lollies I remember from my childhood as well as others mentioned here. There is Rock candy, dark chocolate bullets, black cats, musk stick, choo choo bars, caramel popcorn and many more. I had a great time walking down memory lane in this little shop...... a little quirky but a must stop, shop and reminisce if you are ever up that way. They even have an online shop that you can buy your favorite lollies on and they will send them to you...its called cglollies.com.

I finished the marshmallows before I got out the door....lol, they were yumsmile

Tex Bars, anyone remember these?

My mum was doing a Course at night and would prepare a revolting stew, (my mother could not cook and still can't) and dad would come home from work and heat it up for our dinner.

Dad would put 5 Tex Bars, one each for us kids and one for him, in the middle of the table and say when you eat all your dinner you can have that Tex Bar to wash it down.

I think Hoadleys made them, so yum.
