A small prayer of thanks to She Who Must Be obeyed.

We're currently in the process of moving to Gippsland.  (Obviously not enough flooding where we are now).   SWMBO has taken the matter fully in hand.   She (quite literally) kicks me out of the way like all the other rubbish, and packs boxes with a finesse that can only be compared to a Brahms concerto.   She finds every bit of space and uses care, love (and a few choice words) to make each box give up its virgin space.   She piles said boxes with equal precision in ordered and functional spots ready for loading.  I, in my turn, frequently ask what she needs me to do; SWMBO answers with suggestions that are physical impossibilities as she continues on with the Herculean task.   In two days SWMBO has packed some sixty large commercial boxes with an average weight of 25 kgs each.   Meanwhile, I am delegated to those mundane yet fiddly tasks of reaching for the high up items of pictures and overhead cupboards.  I watch with a sense of pride, love and appreciation of her efforts (although my eyes are open, my ears are closed to the general 'blue' fog of her lullaby to packing).   With the tanacity (and looks) of a bulldog, SWMBO has performed feats of wonder and approbation that I can only fall to my knees (particularly due to the kicking) and give thanks for.  On our last  move, I was away with work (thank God) and not present to witness this Valkyrie in action.   She packed, hired and loaded the truck and drove back and forth with an entire household.

So to She Who Must Be Obeyed and all SWMBO's, I salute you and say

(Iambic Pentameter)

"Your efforts do not go unnoticed.

Your labours are not  made in vain,

I acknowledge the love in your labour

Even though you are often a pain".

What a beautiful explanation for the tedious task of moving house. Well done.

Keith you must be related to my hubby hehehe.  I do all the packing in our house too and we have packed more times than I have had packed lunches.  I get rolls of white butcher paper and we have a tape gun and black markers and I start in one room and don't leave until it is finished and on through the house I go and you would surprised what you can squeeze into a tea chest.  My hubby is often surprised hehehe.  I have never had anything break over the past 25 years so I have a good track record.  I stack the cartons etc and they are all labelled as to where they belong at the other end, but as we get older I am not so sure I want to do the next movebiggrinbiggrinbiggrin I might let hubby do it all wink

Welcome to Gippsland, what part of Gippsland Keith, just approx will do, I live and work in Wonthaggi, Sth West Gippsland. Bloody cold and wet.

G'Day Dougwe.   Moving to the sunny climes and balmy airs of Paynesville.  My parents are in Metung and I've sailed there for 30 of my  50 years on the water.  Funny really, I pulled the boat out and brought it to Melbourne only to be taking back to within a few kms of where it was.  Hopefully I'll find somewhere to moor semi permanently without paying thousands.  There's a private jetty at the end of my street that I'm going to open negotiations with ASAP.   I spent a few days in the M.H. at Wonthaggi earlier this year.  Enjoyed ourselves immensly.  Did the coal mine tour and went window shopping in the township (didn't get any deals on windows thought).

I was at my parents' in Metung (Gippsland) and overheard two mozzies that had taken a farmer's sheep.  One mozzie suggested they take it down to the beach and eat it there.   The other mozzie told him not to be stupid 'cos at the beach, the big ones would take it off them.

Hi Keith, loved that tribute, are you a professional writer?  If not you should be - you have great skill with words.
