Iwas looking at getting my A/Con regassed on M.H. I was told by two aircon mechanics that the price had risen due to the carbon tax. I was led to believe that the 'new' air con gas brought in several years ago was ozone friendly. If this was the case, why a sudden increase since the carbon tax. I'll be writing to my M.P. for an answer, see what he's got to say...LOL.
Most refrigerant gases have taken a huge hike in price recently. The new gases are considered as Green house gases, so you still need a licence to use & store them. The only refrigerant not covered by this is hydrocarbon refrigerant (LPG).
We called in to inspect a caravan park a few days for a future trip location, we were informed that they had all ready received notice from managment that there will be a price increase , 1/7/12 due to carbon tax but no figure had been calculated. So the wheels were turning before the system started.

DON,T PANIC! The world is coming to an end( or so Dr No says). What ever you do , DON,T PANIC!
I believed the world was going to end on carbon tax day, now we are all still here I'll have to do that big pile of laundry I didnt think we'd need any more.
What gets me is why governments bring in such extreme new legislation with new taxes in tough economic times, it simply doesn't make sense.
With the world now in virtual recession, the question is why now, surely Fred Bloggs could see that the timing is abysmal and almost guarantees a wipeout at the next election.
If this Carbon Tax was introduced in a 'Bull' market when everything was rosy and things were on the move, I doubt most people would even raise an eyebrow and just pass it off as another happening...now it is the talk of the nation and has got 75% of the population offside and angry.
It certainly is proof positive that our leaders in general, have no bloody idea and couldn't run a chook raffle in 2 person toilet.
I was under the impression that "political threads" where a NO, NO?
Obviously some people have an exemption form.
Not to worry, the world is coming to an end, no more Whyalla, everything except my income going up. Wait a minute, I can put that up and blame it on the carbon tax.
Thanks Tony.

You are correct about political comment Landfall, so let's not not take it down that path.
Interestingly the New Zealand Prime Minister has announced that the NZ emission trading scheme (carbon reduction scheme) would be postponed indefinitely as it was likely to cost jobs in the present recessive economic climate...exactly what I was intimating in my previous reply.

Hi all, I was hoping that this thread would stay focussed on whether the carbon tax would have an effect on caravan park prices rather than straying into political comments. I think it's probably safer if I close it off now. Just a reminder everyone, we do try to steer clear of potentially divisive political issues. Thanks for your understanding.
