Hi John,

So pleased you're enjoying Toomula Beach, it's such a lovely spot. I'm still camped at Babinda Creek with quite a few others, thanks for recommending it, this camp is also excellent!

Yes Cate it is a nice area, it has the most vans and campers in the one free spot that I have seen'

Moved on to Guthalungra Rest Area Camps6 #52 an easy trip of around 200kms. Guthalungra is a clean campsite right in town with flushing toilet, barbeque, running water, a play area for kids plus tables and chairs. A very convenient spot for a free stopover. John

John, how long does it take to charge your Ipod shuffle. I have one and the very brief instructions doesn't tell me. There is nothing on the Ipod to indicate when it is fully charged that I can see. (reading your blog)

Me too Beth. I don't open my door once I'm in for the night. I have a lidded container for when I have to get up through the night, so I don't disturb anyone.

Don't know why every-one with a Whiz-bang doesn't do the same.

Hi, initially it took a while about a couple of hours there is a small led light which glows green when full and orange whilst charging it is located just by the plug used for charging/playing and iTunes for syncing.

Only got it today but spent time when I got here, the sound is excellent after my phone's efforts. It is interesting to find that others find usefull some of the mundane things I put on the blog.

Because it is only 2GB I have put all my 70's music into one file and it comes to 1.5GB so that is all that I sync and set it to shuffle. It lasts 11.5 hours and has 197 tracks and it is all that I want. I have 40GB in Itunes but don't want it on the iPod. John

Thanks John, mine has a red light when charging, never seen it go any other colour. When playing it only lasts about half hour and its flat again. Mines full of all my 60's and 70's songs, well over 100 I think. I don't use the earphones, can't stand them in my ears so bought a little case with speakers from Dick Smith for about ten dollars. Has a beautiful sound.

I've actually found it's the foreign tourists that 'whiz bang' half the night with no consideration to anyone else. disbelief

Hi, it mimics the sound when a sliding door closes and is often used by caravanners in a derogatory way to describe campervans like mine the Hi Ace.

It is a fact of life and I am not upset by the name but will register a minor protest when it is used on the forum.

Stayed another day in Guthalungra to meet up with Billeeee and Jules, those who read the blog and forum back in September will remember that I spent three weeks travelling in tandem with Billeeee as we did the Great Ocean Road and the Eyre Peninsular before parting at Ceduna, he went back to a GN get together at Greens Lake in Victoria whilst I continued across the Nullabor.
We did have a lot to catch up on from the last nine months and we took over one of the table, chairs and covered areas to be comfortable whilst over a cup of coffee we discussed it all. Later on we were joined by a couple from the next van and I haven't laughed so much in years as the day wore on, we became quite noisy and others might have thought that we were on the hard stuff we got on so well that is was a hilarious afternoon.
None of us wanted to cook tonight so we went across to the servo next door and had takeaway, I enjoyed mine in Billeeee's van whilst we talked some more. I had never met Jules before and it was a pleasure to make her aquaintance

Good stuff John, I love hearing the positive stories of the on road community. Can't wait. Down here in the South East it is cold, wet and windy, normally I love Winter, but I am over it big time. Want to be able to travel where the sun is shining and one feels like actually getting out and doing something.

Just 17kms inland from Calen and 45kms north of Mackay with 7kms of good gravel road Boulder Creek Camps6 #60 is a wonderful place with many caravans and campervans in place, some looked as if they had been there for some time.
You walk to the toilet and there is a path running to the left with picnic tables and chairs, give them a miss and turn right along the cane fields and down to the creek. There are several places to access the river and the first one has beautiful scenery but keep on and you will come to a deep pool with fresh water running through and rope swings. That is where I swam to the amazement of all who came through, it was very cold and the sun could not reach the creek because of the trees blocking it. I had been told at the campsite that it would be too cold to swim but that made me more determined so I put on my new rubber shoes to keep my tender feet from touching the rocks and pebbles threw a towel over my shoulder and set off. You are a tough old nut John, swimming this time of year. The mornings are quite nippy at the moment even in North Qld. Love the photos, keep them coming. Do you have a photo of Toomulla, it's only a few k's from home but haven't yet checked out the camp spot there. I wanted to come up for a visit while you were there, but unfortunately had a heap of family stuff on that weekend.

I think the size depends on whether you put it inline in the post window then it is quite large.
