Surat is on the Carnarvon Highway between Roma and St George. It is #866 in CAW6 Qld if you have that book.
Surat is a free camp just over the bridge and there is a lot of traffic during the day but is very quiet at night.
There is an old toilet block but they are kept clean and the bins are cleaned regulary, and a dump point behind the toilets. There is town water available and free hot showers are available at the shire hall.
The camp area is solid but some places get muddy . There is also camping on the opposite side of the road, but there are no facilities.
