Camooweal Billabong

Monday and I set off towards Camooweal and saw the kms sign indicating 300kms to Queensland, it has taken 10 months to get me back to Queensland and I was excited at the prospect. There has been nowhere on my travels that would tempt me away from the Gold Coast as a base. Camooweal Billabong Camps6 #315 has many campsites along the Georgina River and that was my destination for Monday. I arrived in good time and set up camp by the river in a quiet spot intending to spend Monday and Tuesday nights there.   John

All the waterholes look good. Have you caught any fish yet?

No Bill I haven't been wetting a line but now on the Norman River at Normanton that is another story. I really want to catch a Barramundi but lack the knowledge to take an advantage of this opportunity. Will be here all day and have access to th forum so any tips will be welcome.

I think my rod is a bit small (Powerstick PPS 7002 TBLM Series 11) and the reel (Shimano 4000FB) may not be up to catching a big one. The lure is fine it is called Barra Supreme and the line is 10kg Platypus Pretest.

I have been a golfer all my adult life and never fished until I decided to travel Australia and didn't have the room for golf equipment so I am not a fisherman and not really keen on fishing but have the ambition to catch a Barra before returning to the Gold Coast.

John

Keep casting !your gear and lure seem right, just go where the fish are and try! Rock bars and bridges are fish attracting spots, and you just cast about near them.Good luck .Bill
