Asked the question of the CIA WA if their association had ever dicussed a Bulldog ban in parks. You are not allowed to sh*t at sporting venues, pubs or around kids playgrounds but in a caravan park when a bulldog sh*ts everybody is inconvenienced by the smell. I know this will upset bulldog owners but you are a minority group.

Love your av Chi Chi, coming home to Canberra doesnt seem so bad when we see such a beautiful Autumn scene!

People in next caravan smoke. Apart from thinking it wont do their health any good, it makes no difference to us. Less tolerance to cigarette butts on the ground though.

There was a caravan park at Port Fairy where smoking was banned altogether. (Cant remember its name, wouldnt recommend it anyway, it was a dump, with dirty, never cleaned, amenities).

I am not a smoker, never have ,never will.
I would not be very happy if I was in a camp kitchen area and someone lit up but don't have a problem with people doing their own thing in their own space.

Hi Gerty hope you are having a wonderful time. I have several daughter took a couple of weeks ago. Made me go and have a look myself. If anyone wants to visit Canberra, about now would be the right time. Weather has been lovely if maybe cool. Been out in garden most of the time and made some headway. Even my garden is looking nice.

I don't think smoking in CP's can be stopped...after all, it's private property.

Don't get me wrong, I hate the stuff. It's just another good reason for me to do bush camping. At least I have half a chance of avoiding it, as people aren't usually parked on top of each other.

A question for anyone who does smoke...I don't mean to tar (pun intended) all smokers with the same brush, but why is it that smokers, in general, only seem to be a bit more thoughtful when I say I'm an Asthmatic?

If I'm sitting somewhere, in a park say, and someone comes along and lights up nearby, shouldn't I have a right to ask them politely to move away? AND without having to add that I'm Asthmatic?

Actually, smoking can and is banned on private property, most venues are privately owned including pubs and restaurants. As a past smoker from many years ago, it doesn't bother me too much, unless the smokers are directly opposite or in a confined space and blowing the smoke over or toward me. What I do find irritating is the attitude of a large number of smokers, arrogant, belligerent and yes downright rude at times, perhaps it's because they seem to be in a state of denial, and in reality would dearly love to give it up, but just can't do it. I have had several employees in the sales field accuse me of being a "failed smoker", simply because I was hard and fast on the rule of "no smoking in the presence of customers", strange defense really. I acknowledge that everybody has a right to do as they wish, provided it doesn't directly interfere or impact on other people...and that includes the right to smoke.

There is a CP just out of Charleville . Qld.  They do not allow smokers , children , or pets . An interesting concept .

We will be staying there for a couple of days next week .

Will let everybody know how it goes .

I have to agree Billeeeeeeee, I myself am a smoker and nowadays tend to keep to myself so as not to annoy people, but there are an awful lot of people out there that don't seem to worry about annoying me, sorry had to say it , will keep my thoughts to myself on this subject as I am obviouly biased.

In view of the fact we now know of the negative impact on our health that we sustain from smoking, particularly tailor made fags, I think we should be aware of the impact on others, "passive smokers", whether they be asthmatic or not.
It's not about the money it costs. It's about the health affect and the offensive smell.
I actually love the smell of real, fresh tobacco, and the smell of good pipe and rolly tobacco. Tailor mades get to me, and to the smokers apparently.
What made me mad in my working days was the smokers time outside to smoke, while the rest of us plugged away at our jobs.
What made them so special? We all got the same pay, or similar, for the same amount of hours, except they weren't really working those hours.

By the way, the Adelaide Hills are looking ab fab right now as the autumn tones blend with the terrain.
Let's keep ourselves nice, eh?

As a smoker Granny I never had a break other than the ones I was rostered on for and took home the same pay as a lot of other people that I am justified in saying did not pull their weight at work.........why does it always have to come down to us against them..........never ever have considered myself special just an ordinary person who has weaknesses like everybody else and put my hand up to it.

hear hear pauline, totally agree with you hun, If people really want to go on about vices, what about excessive drinking, Booz heads, who constantly drink and think they are so witty , there brain is altered and they speak absolute garbage, , some are down right nasty and abusive, I have yet to have someone abuse me because they are affected by smoking. Of course its bad for yah, but so is reading provocative posts that people put up. Of course if you are going to put up posts for debate, EXPECT a knee jerk reaction. Chi chi is entitled to her reaction, one must admit it was a silly post, that deserved the answer it got. Thats my opinion, Theres room for all of us, billeeee is correct in that. So if I meet any of you, and you are drinking like a fish and talking crap,, I will say see yah dont want to be yah, drinkers cause fatal car accidents, smokers dont, And that is a fact.
Sigh

Hi everyone,
This topic is obviously one that evokes strong feelings and has been quite upsetting for some members.  I think it's best to close the thread off now.
