Thursday and we spent the day in Broome showing Steven the best of what I had seen in the previous two days and swimming again at Cable Beach we bumped into Jeremy and Anthony the French backpackers who were bogged at Wyllike Creek then setting off at 4pm and driving to Nillibubbica Camps6 #625 as a start to our Eastern trip.
Friday morning and we started out to Derby looking at the Prison Boab Tree just before the Gibb River Turnoff and on to the information centre. Needed to know whether or not we could drive the Gibb River Road and then use the Windgana Gorge Road to get down to Fitzroy Crossing so that we could visit the Gorge and Tunnel Creek but it was not navigable for 2WD and needed more clearance to drive across the river crossings. We decided to go straight to Fitzroy Crossing and see the Geikie Gorge. I decided on the boat tour whilst Steven went on a trail walk. We moved on another 100kms to a free camp at Ngumban Cliff. Camps6 #634 This was the longest days drive in all 510kms. Jeremy and Anthony did the same trip but didnt go as far as Derby and went on the trail with Steven. John
The prisoners were chained to the outside. The hollow tree offers great insulation. The Gibb is not suitable for 2 wheel drive after the sealed section. You went the safest way to Geiki. Is there still a bit of water around after the wet season, or was it a "dry" wet season?

No CG it is evident that the dry season has commenced, That was my plan to get here in May after 1 month in Esperence, 2 months in Denmark and 1 month in Bali.
