Just started my trip up there. Left Loxton today. Was going to go via Highway 1, but decided to go more inland. Am currently at Mildura. Will be going towards West Wylong over the next few days. Hope to be at Lismore around the 12th, then up to Gympie from there. Not sure I want to go through Brisbane and its toll roads though. Oh well will decide when the time comes.

Mergatroy, to avoid Brisbane you can come up the inland road to about Kingaroy then cross over to Gympie from there.

thanks HW thats what I was thinking too. Go inland from my Lismore meet up. Hope there are a lot of those overtaking lanes through the mountains as my 'bus' slows right down on hills.

mergatroy, there are no mountains between Goondiwindi and Kingaroy, Myrtle slows down too so I avoid them, the only hilly bit is back around Coonabarabran if you come that far over.
From Goondi you can go 3 different ways, up through Moonie to Dalby, or up the Cunningham to Inglewood then turn up to Millmerrin on through Cecil Plains to Dalby, or the one in the middle that takes you up to Millmerrin then on through Cecil plains the same as the 2nd one.
