North from Kalbarri

Left the PCYC grounds early and set off to see the two remaining National Parks, we left them till last because they are on the way we are going today. The first was Hawks Head and the first pictures show it is quite spectacular whilst the second Ross Graham was not as impressive but you can get right down to the gorge and swim in the river, as we did.
We took off across to the North West Coastal Highway and stopped for lunch at  Galena Bridge Rest Area camps6 #444 and moved on northwards until we stopped at a rest area nominated in the Guide To Free Camping in the North of WA as #39 it is just a rest stop but has tracks leading away from the road where you can stop overnight, 27kms north of the Billabong Rest Area, this guide has nominated several such sites that are missing from Camps6. Having commented about the wind and seaweed in WA I hesitate to further indicate disproval but have to say that the humble bindii is on steroids over here. Never have I seen so many and so huge specimens as have been stuck to Stevens thongs here in this rest area.
