Gas Fill up prices.

Went into the local hardware store here in Biggenden this morning asking if he knew of anyone who fills gas bottles. They do.

Local Hardware & Rural Supplies Store, Victoria Street, Biggenden. 4 kg is $16.50 and a 9kg is $37.00.

Not sure about the 9 kg price but I do know that is a great price for a 4 kg as I paid $20.00 back at the service station in Echuca.

Will know where to go when its time to fill up. Anyone passing through its just around the corner from the pub.

That certainly is cheap. We find the prices range from $25 through to $38 just depending where you are. When you need to fill up, you need to. A bit like fuel for vehicle I suppose. Glenda

The difference to $20 and $30 is not a great deal really...the bottle lasts for a long time so no real dramas.

My 9kg bottle lasts me weeks and weeks so a few dollars does not mean much in the long run

I paid $13.40 for 4kg today at Banners Hardware in Mt Gambier. Last week I paid $12 for the same size at the dive shop in Portland but the best price I've got recently was at the little hardware shop in Creswick (about 15km north of Ballarat) - $11.50.

Probably because the cost of the gas itself is a minor part of the price. It is the labour that makes it expensive. Some places don't charge as much for labour as others.

I've found it is cheaper to refill, but we keep an eye on the expire date and do a swap when its getting close, still works out cheaper than buying new bottle.
