Wet and leave I'm going to do my van with I do believe is safe to use on rubber I just read the directions on the container I have of wet and forget and it says it's ok to use on everything even awnings so it's safe to use on rubber.

Our van has a rubberised membrane on the roof (see avatar) which is becoming 'chalky' and mildew/algae is starting to appear on it. I have done some research and it needs to scrubbed with a soft brush and soapy water. Also, there is a rubberised paint which can be used to recoat it.
My question is - can I use 'wet & forget' cleaning agent (as advertised on TV) on the rubber membrane and also has anyone used the rubberised paint. How long does it last. I have been told that it cracks after a few years.
Have you been able to contact the manufacturer or Aust distributor? I would imagine they would know.
I can't answer your question, but I would assume the "compound/construction" of the "rubberised membrane" would determine what "chemical" you could (or could not) put on it to clean it.
Cheers
John

The distibutor in Australia said to use soapy water and did not know what 'chemicals' could be used. I need to make more enquiries about 'wet & forget'which only needs to be sprayed on & then washed off. Owing to the height of the van (3.9mtrs) it is not easy to spend a lot of time juggling buckets of water and scrubbing brush.
According to a well respected RV repairer the rubber membrane on US built RV's doesn't have a good record for longlivity under Australian conditions.
It's a wonder (Or maybe not) that the importer doesn't have a product to help reduce the rubber from drying out (White coating) and eventially cracking. Ozjohn.
