Officially an unemployed BUM

Have finished my last working day! Now I can really get stuck into getting ready to move on with my travels. Feels strange knowing I don't have to go towork ever again! Just waiting on house to finalise and then it's TIME

Congratulations! Huge decision.
I'm impressed to learn you have a plan for post-retirement. I've met some who retire but don't have a plan for how they are going to spend their days which were previously filled with work.
Depression or health issues get them and they don't live long enough to enjoy their retirement.
They have breakfast as usual, read the paper and then just sit. No sport, no friends, no travel, nothing but the void.
Good for you! You're gunna luv it!

I agree gt, I have said that many times already. Sometimes I even think I work harder now than when full time.

Congratulations Peter, it is wonderful that everything has fallen into place for you. Where are you heading off to first or are you going to just toss the coin on your first day. I for one cannot wait to get up and going for real. Wonderful stuff.

Hello Mr Bum and congratulations, this is the time of your life when your real contribution to life and humanity begins when you can share your life experience and accumulated wisdom and educate all those work obsessed driven young'uns about the folly of wasting their prescious years chasing transient materialistic things instead of the things that really matter

Elle,

For me those "transient materialistic things" would be a euphemism for children born late and who have long tertiary courses.

Next life if there is one, I must remember to have children at a more reasonable age, say the mid-twenties. Maybe they could do trades as well.

I had mine fairly young, then left home because they wouldn't.
Well, I had travelling to do, and adventures to have.

Congratulations, enjoy your 'bum' life and hopefully you'll cross paths with many of us here.  I'm happily volunteering in Longreach and can recommend the 'no fixed address' lifestyle.

Cheers, Cate

I have met nomads who have been on the road for decades. Makes me look like a beginner by comparison.
